How housing assistance works in Saratoga Springs
Renters in Saratoga Springs looking for federally-subsidized housing have two main paths. The first is the Housing Choice Voucher Program (also called Section 8), which provides a portable subsidy you can use to rent a private-market home from any landlord willing to participate. The second is traditional Public Housing, where the PHA itself owns and operates the building you live in. Both programs use the same income limits but maintain entirely separate waitlists.
To apply, you must contact the PHAs above directly — HUD does not run a national application. We strongly recommend applying to every PHA above for which the corresponding waitlist is currently open. There is no penalty for being on multiple lists, and waitlist movement varies enormously between agencies.
